Halloween

today is Halloween and in class it was not related to Halloween at all. That is okay though. In class we talked about population pyramids. There are three types of them, Christmas tree, box, and cup. The United States is a box. Men are always on the left side of a population pyramid and women are on the right because we are always right. I took that joke from Lily. we looked at different population pyramids all class.

grades

Today in class we went over our grades in this class and people asked questions if they needed to. I didn't do my assignment that was due in Saturday so i did it today in class today for half credit. I am hoping i can get half credit and raise my grade a little. I haven't been doing my blogs lately but in the next quarter i will try and do all of them so i can keep my grade up and hopefully an A. I am doing this blog in class right now and i like today's class because it was a day to kind of  look and reflect on our grades in this class and I could do my assignment and this blog.

world factbook

I chose Greece to know some facts about because one day I would love to visit there.
1.  Greece's population is 10,768,477 people and is ranked 85th in the world. we talked about the rankings and population growth in class.
2.Greece's ethnicity is mostly Greek and a little bit of a few other ethnicity's which is different from the US where we have a lot of different ethnicity's.
3. Their total median age is 44.5 years which we talked about in class and how it has to do with a developed or developing country.
4. The population growth rate is -0.06% which is very bad and means more people are leaving the country or dying than coming or living. They are ranked 204th in the world.
5. The net migration rate there is 2.3 migrants/ 1,000 people which is ranked 40th in the world. That is probably why their population growth rate is pretty low.

Today in class we talked about population in the US and in the world. The United States has a slow birth rate and our numbers increase dont increase as fast as other countries. China and India are the most populated countries in the world and India has a very high birth rate. We learned that we might have problems with resources once we get around 9 or 10 billion people in the world.

culture

Today in class we learned about culture. Culture means to care for or to care about. Culture is what people care about. We got into a long conversation that took up most of the class about our culture. Lily said she was from New York and she moved two years after 9/11 because they didn’t feel safe their anymore, but they would still identify as New Yorkers. Culture is something people identify by and you can’t change. We have a lot of different cultures which is good in some ways because we are a unique and diverse country. In other ways It can be bad because some people think that they have more right than others to be here based on their culture.

onsie

I am wearing a onsie today like i said in my last blog. I am an elephant and everyone keeps grabbing my trunk and Lily keeps saying, "let's talk about the elephant in the room". In class we talked about accents in different places and how they got it and what things they say. We also talked about regions. A region is a unique area, with their own cultures,religion, climate, economic activity. We are spending a little bit of the class doing our blogs  because some people still aren't doing them. I am finally getting into the groove and doing my blogs every day we have class.

getting test back

I got an 86 on my test that we got back today and i think that is pretty good for my first test in this class. I am not really sure why i got a 34 out of 40 on my essay though because there were a lot of underlined things and i only didn't have one of the things you said we needed for a perfect score. I put the right answers on  my paper where I had it wrong so i can study them later. I am wearing neon purple pants, a neon yellow shirt, and neon orange socks. I like spirit week so far. I am going to wear an elephant onsie tomorrow. This class went by really fast today.

gps and more maps

Today we learned about GPS tracking and then got three more maps. A GPS is kind of scary to think about cause it can track your every move. We talked about how phones or Alexa listen in on us and we could lose our privacy rights. But there are the terms and agreement and there are so many pages  that no one ever really reads, we just click the agree button and forget about it. We talked about that for a while then we got three more maps and started putting exact locations on a map with a bunch of clocks. Since there were a lot of clocks I am guessing that we are going to talk about how the different places are in different time zones and by how much they are ahead or behind us.
